When people think of Jacqueline Kennedy, it’s hard to ignore her tremendous amount of grace. In my portrait, I wanted to represent her as a person who was above all things very introspective. Here, she was originally placed in front of her Georgetown home…but I took her home out and placed behind her a field of medium gray embroidered eyelets. I wanted her to feel alone. Not sad, just alone. Thinking. Jacqueline Kennedy was more than a mother and wife. She was a painter, an equestrian, and supporter of the arts. I greatly admire the amount of privacy she sought for herself, her children, her family.
