Charles Lindbergh was the first to fly a solo transatlantic flight. He flew from New York to LeBorget (near Paris), France in 1927. This flight made him an instant hero. At the time of this feat Lindbergh not only became a huge celebrity, but also became a more photographed and documented man than all of our previous Presidents. Lindbergh led a solitary life. He enjoyed time alone. In my portrait the border pattern I wanted to depict either endless clouds, or hills. His portrait is in black and white as would be a photograph of that time and to further attest to his aloneness. I gave only the far away Eiffel Tower in the background to further this feeling.
