In this portrait, I wanted to portray Ms. Roosevelt as first a Woman Of Letters. After her husband’s terms in office, Ms. Roosevelt was always seen at Congress trying to get bills passed. Always busy with legislation, she became instrumental in advances for Human Rights and met with Martin Luther King, Jr. In depicting this Woman Of Letters, it was important to me she be writing or showing her hands about to do so. The lettering in this portrait is still some of my favorite to date. Not only is Ms. Roosevelt my favorite First Lady, she has been the personal role model for many First Ladies after her.
