I love Virginia Woolf for being a writer who was revolutionary. Her style of writing at the time, was so new, writing itself seemed to be given a new life. Virginia Woolf from a very early age dealt with tremendous loss. By her early 20’s she had dealt with the loss of her parents and many of her siblings. Virginia had crippling depression all her life and tried to take her own life twice before she succeeded a third time, walking into a nearby river. This portrait is the smallest I have done. Here is her portrait as a young woman on a page in any encyclopedia in any library. Her portrait is quiet, and still, but unmistakably definite.
