The concept of this portrait is taken from the first “Agatha Christie” quilt I started which was never finished. From the beginning, I wanted to embroider the titles of all of Dame Agatha’s 112 mystery novels. Dame Agatha’s novels were the first novels I read as a child. I began reading them in the fourth grade, by the time I started the fifth grade I had read all I could find. I have always marveled at her vast body of work. Her novels have been translated into more than 50 languages and have sold more copies second only to The Bible. Dame Agatha’s work can be used for a blueprint of the quintessential mystery novel. She is also the only writer to have been published in the 20’s, the 30’s, the 40’s, the 50’s, the 60’s and the 70’s.
