Albert was a dog. But not just any dog. He was the most beautiful dog that ever lived. Two dear friends, who are the dream parents of any dog, owned Albert. When dogs dream…they dream of these two guys. I also couldn’t pass up this portrait because Albert looks very much like my beautiful female black lab named, Millie. I borrowed a poem written by poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning, written about her own dog, a cocker spaniel, named Flush. I also incorporated a bit of Toile fabric. The expansive never-ending fields depicted in this Toile remind me of when labs are most happy. Running the fields. The quilting stitch is a basic seed stitch worked at different intervals throughout the piece. This portrait is a celebration of a “beautiful, black baby boy.” See Albert, all dogs DO go to Heaven.
