“In the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes.” That was the quote Andy announced in the 1970’s. However, in the late 1950’s he introduced paintings, then silkscreens depicting his favorite childhood meal, Campbell’s soup. He and other Pop Artists set out to demyth elitist art by saying this painting is of Campbell’s soup and ONLY Campbell’s soup. The art of the Pop movement was truthful and daring. For this portrait I researched Campbell’s soup varieties from the turn of the century to present day. Andy had his 15 minutes…but his art will live for a lifetime.
