Eleanor of Aquitaine is one of the most heroic figures of the middle ages. By 15 she was Queen of France and by 34 she was Queen of England. Eleanor pushed for reform which empowered women at a time when women were a man’s property along with the house she cleaned and the cows she milked. Eleanor gave birth to eight children, several of which went on to become kings and queens in their own right. Eleanor was a devoted mother. She reared what would be the future of all Europe and wasn’t afraid to use her children in arguments to ensure the power of her throne. I greatly admire her calculations, her determination, and her prowess as one of the greatest minds of medieval England.
