Every American born previous to 1963 usually remembers and can answer the question “Where Were You When You Heard?” This question referring to the shooting of John F. Kennedy. Growing up, my mother had two heroes she held close to her heart. Elvis Presley and JFK. For my mother, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was as close to royalty as an American could get. JFK was elected to public office the youngest president and the first Roman Catholic. In this portrait, I highlight some of his accomplishments, the events that shaped his administration, and other interests. As with some portraits, I have placed myself in the frame, at Love Field Airport in Dallas, Texas only 40 minutes before the shooting very glad to welcome the President and Jackie. This is the first of my portraits which doesn’t offer a year of birth choosing to feature November 22, 1963 as the very day America stood silent and in shock and as “the country’s most beloved president ever” was assassinated.
