King James is the English king whom with great conviction took it upon himself to have the Bible translated into current day English. He was very devout and pious. There was one problem. He was a homosexual. James had affairs with many of his courtiers or sons of his courtiers (two imagined and pictured here). The affairs ended badly as the courtiers always went back to their wives. Has was the son of Mary Queen of Scots and married Anne of Denmark. Simultaneously James was known as King James I of England and King James VI of Scotland (ruling Scotland when he was only one year old). James was also embroiled in the “Gunpowder Plot” to blow up Parliament. During his “Golden Age” of rule, his influence allowed the writings of Shakespeare and Bacon to garner continued favor at court. Aside from James’ many flaws he always remained greatly loved by his people and was mourned by them. For posterity, James rewarded them with the grandest accomplishment in Jacobean literature. The King James Bible.
