Ruth was a woman whom lived in The Bible. She typified all that is good, steadfast and resolute. When depicting this “woman of women” I had the choice of: a. portraying her as the saintly matron or b. (as my good friend Mary described) portraying her as “knap-sack clothed Ruth”. I chose the later. Choosing the later shows her in her most devout and moral. Ruth is best known for sticking by her mother-in-law and helping her glean her fields of wheat. If Ruth would have left it would have meant ruin for the older woman. The portrait mysteriously (or not) resembles a box of Raisin Bran. Wholesome and filling like Ruth herself. Ruth was the antithesis of the slogan “It’s all about ME.” I’m sure she would offer: “It’s all about THEE.”
