John the Baptist got his name for baptizing Jews in the Jordan river during the time of Christ. Six months after John baptized Christ, King Herod imprisoned John for allegedly condemning his marriage. John condemned this marriage because of Herod’s daughter Salome’s dance she performed there. “Le Danse” was performed replete with seven veils at Herod’s birthday party. Later Salome brought the head of John to the king on a golden platter. In further disrespect…John’s cold lips were kissed by Salome in Herod’s presence. Here I wanted to focus on the beheading in a less-serious way. The monochromatic water tones recall the River Jordan which served as his “office."
