Much like my past portrait, The Eisenhowers, this portrait is about a loving and lasting partnership. John and Abigail Adams. Their love withstood America’s transitional development and John’s rise to President. There were even tragedies with their children and watching John’s fame turn to poison and then hatred from those who elevated his career. I borrowed lyrics from the Sonny and Cher song “I Got You Babe” which aptly captured their ups and downs.
